Setting new goals is a common practice at the start of a new year. Open your YouTube app, and you’ll likely come across an online guru sharing tips on how to plan your goals or strategies to ensure your success in the upcoming year.
While goal planning is important—and even biblical—it’s just the beginning.
Habakkuk 2:2 (KJV):"And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it."
At Adrenaline Junkies, we’ve been encouraging our members, through our Q1 theme "Ignite - Shape Your Year," to not only set meaningful goals but also to work backwards from them. This involves identifying the smaller, actionable steps needed to achieve those goals.
For example, if one of your goals is to improve your nutrition to support your fitness journey, start by defining what “improving your nutrition” looks like. Get specific. Perhaps it involves practicing mindful eating.
Now, let’s take it a step further: what does practicing mindful eating look like?
It might start with ensuring you’re well-hydrated before meals.
It could mean removing distractions while eating—putting away your phone and turning off the TV.
You might focus on slowing down your chewing to fully enjoy and digest your food.
As you can see, these are all new habits that can help you practice mindful eating. Mindful eating, in turn, supports your goal of improving nutrition, which aids in achieving your overall fitness aspirations.
We invite you to join our members in thinking deeply about your goals. Consider the sub-goals and habits required to achieve them. By breaking your vision into smaller, actionable steps, you’ll be well on your way to success in Q1 and beyond.
